The RISE Story

Smiling BabyRISE Child Development Center, Inc. was created to directly address the trends that the founder, Dr. Choquette Hamilton, observed and experienced personally with early childhood education in Central Texas.

From the high cost of tuition to the lack of diversity among the children and families to even the poor pay for child care workers, Dr. Hamilton realized she was not alone in these struggles to enroll her own children in a high-quality early education.

But she didn’t let this hurdle stop her, instead she was inspired to create RISE- an anti-racist preschool that is intentionally building an equitable early childhood education center for children, families and staff.

For nearly three years, Dr. Hamilton has been developing and creating an early childhood education model that addresses these concerns and has been strategically planning for the right time to launch the first RISE location.

The COVID-19 crisis has illuminated the persistent need for high-quality care options and kindergarten-readiness preparation programs for all parents, not just the ones who can afford it.

How do we do that?

We do this by creating diverse-by-design early childhood education centers using an innovative financial model designed to reduce costs for families and increase salaries for teachers.

Inequity in early childhood education impacts us all, not just the families who can’t afford high-quality care. In order for us to have strong and successful communities that work for us all, we must work together so we can RISE together.
